Editor
in Chief, Maxie Swain
With his new title, Maxie has
insisted on being called ‘The
Chief’ – which is funny really
considering the amount of
battles he shirked in his
playing days. Tired of the
weekly roastings, the ‘marauding
right back’ hung his boots up at
the ripe old age of 18, much to
the disappointment of fleet
footed left wingers everywhere.
Cut his journalistic teeth at
the Daily Mirror before moving
to the News Letter’s sports
department. Has also written for
the Irish Times.
Senior
Reporter, Barry Caldwell The Soccer Post's chief
reporter, Barry is the older
brother of one of Northern
Ireland’s most promising rising
golfers, Jonny Caldwell. It's
not hard to spot where most of
the talent in the Caldwell
family went to. While Jonny's
booming 300-yard drives down the
most beautiful fairways in the
world, Barry can usually be
found having a stinker every
Saturday in the Down Area
league. Barry served his
apprenticeship with the Ards
Chronicle before Soccer Post
swooped.
Head Of
Marketing, Martin Beagan
Born with two left feet, after a
couple of years playing
5-a-side, no-one is still quite
sure which foot is his strong
one. The word ‘journeyman’was
invented for Marty who is more
travelled than Michael Palin,
with stints in most of Belfast's
workplaces. Is tied to a
multi-million pound contract
with the Soccer Post which might
put an end to his travels,
unless Real Madrid come calling
of course.
Managing Director, Maxwell Swain
Like all great MDs, Max’s role
at the Soccer Post is
‘unspecified’. Always the first
in and the last to leave, what
he actually contributes during
those hours will forever remain
a mystery. Enjoyed a
‘distinguished career’ – his
words, not ours – as an Amateur
League footballer and manager.
Max has a wealth of experience
running various privately-owned
enterprises.
